Let me preface this by saying I have fine, thin hair that gets oily at the roots after not washing for one day. About a year ago I went from shampooing every day to shampooing three days a week. In that time, my hair has somewhat adjusted in that it does not look like an oil slick on the second day after washing, but there is noticeable grease and some of my hair gets stringy due to the oil. I tried one other brand of dry shampoo (specifically marketed as "volumizing" for fine hair... what a crock) and didn't like it since it didn't seem to do anything except make my hair look worse. I have also tried the plain cornstarch trick and that seemed to be too overwhelming for my hair... or I just used too much... anyway, it didn't work for me. So I stopped trying and resigned myself to just pulling my hair back on those unwashed days...
... until I found this in my local Target by chance while looking for shower caps. I'd read a few reviews on this product and liked what I'd seen, but a search of my local Rite Aid did not carry it. Not wanting to go searching all over kingdom come, or buy it online, I forgot about this product. When I saw it the other night, I bought it immediately. At $7.49, it was cheaper than I've seen online, plus I was able to get it immediately as opposed to waiting for it to come in the mail. This morning, I gave my hair a few spritzes of this magical powder, let it set per the instructions, then brushed my hair out. I could not believe how great my hair looked. If I didn't know better, I would think I had washed my hair this morning. Okay, well, I may be exaggerating a little bit, but it definitely soaked up the grease and made the greasy parts look fresh-washed. I did have a heavy finger at one point and sprayed way too much onto the top of my head, which resulted in a white patch that was extremely difficult to rub/brush out. I have light brown/dark blonde hair so it blended in... kinda... but for someone with dark hair, I'd recommend being very careful, otherwise your hair might look grey. Overall, though, I'm loving that I found this product and hope my Target keeps selling it. Even though I may not buy this from Amazon, I have found over the last 10 years that Amazon reviews have become vital to my purchasing decisions no matter where the item is purchased, so I'm hoping this review helps someone else in a similar manner. This product is an amazing God-send for people with fine hair like mine who want to be able to wear their hair down on the second day after a wash but not look like a greaseball. Thanks, Aveeno!
